1 Chiesa, Lorenzo
The Not-two : logic and God in Lacan / Lorenzo Chiesa.--
Cambridge: MIT Press, 2016.

ISBN : 9780262529037.

In -The Not-Two-, Lorenzo Chiesa examines the treatment
of logic and God in Lacan-s later work. Chiesa draws for
the most part from Lacan-s Seminars of the early 1970s,
as they revolve around the axiom -There is no sexual
relationship-. Chiesa provides both a close reading of
Lacan-s effort to formalise sexual difference as
incompleteness and an assessment of its broader
implications for philosophical realism and materialism.

3 Hardiman, David
The Nonviolent struggle for Indian freedom, 1905-19 /

In recent years, there has been a surge of
writing on the technique and practice of non-violent
forms of resistance. Much of this has focused on
movements that occurred after the end of the Second
World War, many of which have been extremely successful. Although the fact
that such a method of resistance was developed in its modern form by India
is acknowledged, there has not until now been an authoritative history
available to show exactly how this occurred.
This book provides such a study. Although non-violence
is associated above all with the towering figure of M.K. Gandhi,
David Hardiman shows that civil forms of resistance were already
being practiced by nationalists in British-ruled India under the
rubric of -passive resistance-.In this, there was no principled
commitment to non-violence as such.

What are the key factors that win or lose elections in
India? What does, or does not, make India-s democracy
tick? Is this the end of anti-incumbency? Does the
selection of candidates impact results? Are elections
becoming more democratic or less so? Published on the eve
of India-s next general elections, The Verdict will use
rigorous psephology, original research and as-yet-
undisclosed facts to talk about the entire span of
India-s electoral history from the first elections in
1952. Crucially for 2019, it provides pointers to look
out for to see if the incumbent government will win or
lose.

Many democratically elected leaders of the twenty-first
century have displayed streaks of recklessness, megalomania,
bizarre self-obsession and political views that are difficult to
characterize. This book studies the actions of these contemporary
political leaders and covers Brexit, the election of Donald Trump,
the rise of the BJP under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and
decision-making with respect to global governance, terrorism and trade.
It brings to light the fact that at the heart of delusional politics is
perhaps the delusional politician.

Indian higher education : perspective from the margin /
Raosaheb K Kale.-- New Delhi: Aakar books, 2018.
308p. , 23cm.
ISBN : 9789350025505.

The present education is an offshoot of the British
system, introduced with focus to educate the members of
higher castes and to get their support to rule the
country. Expectedly, education during the British time
remained exclusive. Whenever, the British took any
initiative to educate the downtrodden, the upper castes
protested. When the British left, education fell to the
lap of descendants of the beneficiaries of the British
education who protected the interest mainly of their
brethren from the same castes. Although, to undo the
historic wrongs, the provision of reservations for SCs
and STs in the educational institutions was made in the
constitution, the same was implemented detrimentally.
Education is known to have the power to transform a
person into a national asset. This book is dealing with
these.

8 Bose, Sugata
The Nation as mother and other visions of nationhood /
Sugata Bose.-- Gurgaon: Viking, 2017.
xv, 254p. , 23cm.
ISBN : 9780670090112.

In this book, the author explores the relationship
between nation, reason and religion in Indian political
thought and practice. Offering a subtle interpretation of
the ways of imagining the nation as mother, the book
illuminates different visions of India as a free and
flexible federal union that have acquired renewed
salience today. Breaking out of the false dichotomy
between secular nationalism and religious communalism,
the author provides incisive analyses of the political
legacies of Tagore and Gandhi, Nehru and Bose, Aurobindo
and Jinnah and a range of other thinkers and leaders of
the anti-colonial movement.

9 Johri, C K
India : perspectives on politics, economy and labour 1918
2007 / C K Johri.-- New Delhi: Aakar books, 2011.
2vols , 23cm.
ISBN : 9789350021514.

This book in two volumes is about India in course of a
century which has traversed varied phases and
developments, some undoubtedly momentous and several
others quite distressful or saddening. The totality of
change is unprecedented in the long history of India.
The economy has changed beyond recognition though the
progress is uneven and inequalities are growing even as
deep seated poverty persists. Labour relations have seen
the most turmoil in past but are now quieter and more
management centred. Partial globalization and
liberalization of the economy have impacted labour most.
The interested readers will find facets of continuity and
disjunction running through all the three themes in the
book.
