2 Downing, Lisa (ed)
After Foucault : culture, theory, and criticism in the
twenty-first century / Lisa Downing.-- Cambridge:
Cambridge University Press, 2018.
xiii, 205p. , 23cm.
ISBN : 9781316506042.
194 FOU 147024
This book aims to clarify, to contextualize, and to
contribute to Foucauldian scholarship in a very specific
way. Rather than offering either a conceptual
introduction to Foucault-s work, or a series of
interventions aimed specifically at experts, the book
explores his critical afterlives, situates his work in
current debates, and explains his intellectual legacy. As
well as offering up-to-date assessments of Foucault-s
ongoing use in fields such as literary studies, sexuality
studies, and history, chapters explore his relevance for
urgent and emerging disciplines and debates, including
ecology, animal studies, and the analysis of
neoliberalism.

ISBN : 9781138107014.

This book critically examines some of the major trends in
the development of higher education. It demonstrates how
in the context of liberalisation, globalisation and
marketization, the crisis in higher education has assumed
different dimensions in all advanced and emerging
societies. The author shows how the state tends to slowly
withdraw from the responsibility of higher education,
including in the arena of policy-making or simply adopts
a policy of laissez-faire (of non-involvement) which
helps in the rapid unbridled growth of private sector in
higher education.

Performing representation : women members in the Indian
Parliament / Shirin M Rai and Carole Spary.-- New Delhi:

xv, 398p. , 23cm.
ISBN : 9780199489053.

This book offers new insights into the gendered nature of
the performance, aesthetics and norms of parliamentary
life through an examination of electoral data,
legislative debates and life stories of women MPs. The
authors avoid both the framing of women MPs either simply
as challengers of masculinized institutional politics or
only as docile actors in a gendered institution. The book
raises critical questions about the politics of
difference, claim-making, representation and
intersectionality and addresses these as part of global
feminist debates on the importance of the women°s
representation in political institutions.

systems: models, tools and policy evaluation-.
Visualizing the EU as a complex and multi-layered
network, the book is organized in three parts, each of
them dealing with a different level of analysis: At the
macro-level, Part I considers the interactions within
large economic systems (regions or countries) involving
trade, workers migration, and other factor movements. At
the meso-level, Part II discusses interactions within
specific but wide-ranging markets, with a focus on
financial markets and banking systems. Lastly, at the
micro-level, Part III explores the decision-making of
single firms, especially in the context of location
decisions.

brink of crisis. Anchored by stories of China-s cities
and its people, from factory workers and displaced
farmers to government officials and entrepreneurs, the
narrative will take readers inside the country-s ghost
cities, zombie companies, start-ups and regulatory
institutions as McMahon explains how things got so bad,
why fixing the problems is so hard and what the economic

Inclusive global value chains : policy options for small

Paula Cusolito, Raed Safadi and Daria Taglioni.--
Washington: World Bank Group, 2016.
xx, 114p. , 26cm.
ISBN : 9781464808425.
337 CUS 147071
This report-s focus is making global value chains (GVCs)
more inclusive. To achieve inclusiveness is by overcoming
participation constraints for Small and Medium
Enterprises (SMEs) and facilitation access for Low Income
Developing Countries (LIDCs). The underlying assumption
is that most firms in LIDCs are SMEs. Even larger firms
in LIDCs are likely to face similar challenges to SMEs,
including a less supportive domestic operating
environment and weaker institutions that lead to higher
fixed costs and challenges to compete on the
international markets. The two major points of this report
are (1) participation in GVCs is heterogeneous and
uneven, across and within countries, and (2) available
data and survey-based evidence suggest that SMEs°
participation in GVCs is mostly taking place through
indirect contribution to exports, rather than through
exporting directly.

The principal focus of this book is to examine
Bangladesh-s policy ownership in its PRSP by broadly
analyzing the dynamics in the formulation process and
examining the principal actors- contribution to the
formulation process. This book also deals with several
other dimensions of foreign aid and its changing features
including the shifts in WB-IMF-s approach to development
cooperation. This book argues that the WB-IMF strongly
influence Bangladesh-s development strategies and agendas
and in general the WB-IMF have not changed much in their
aid relationship despite clear limitations of their
previous reform models.

the more limited and isolated examples of what has not.
In particular, it seeks to achieve two objectives. The
first is to accurately understand, capture and distill
the key dimensions of Korea’s e-governance experience so
that it can be properly understood and appreciated. The
second is to ponder the lessons learned and what did and
did not work from Korea’s experience for other developing
countries seeking to strengthen the role of information
technology within their public sectors.
