1 Yeh, Emily T (ed)
The Geoeconomics and geopolitics of Chinese development
and investment in Asia / Emily T Yeh.-- London: Routledge
, 2018.
x, 215. , 25cm.
ISBN : 9781138505612.

The recent launching of Chinas high profile Belt and
Road Initiative and its founding of the Asian
Infrastructure Investment Bank have underscored Chinas
rapidly growing importance as a global player in
development, diplomacy, and economic governance. This
book provides a targeted examination of the intertwined
geo-economics and geopolitics of Chinas investment and
development in Asia. It provides in-depth and grounded
analyses of nationalisms and state-making projects, as
well as the material effects of Chinas "going out"
strategy on livelihoods, economies, and politics. The
volume contributes to understandings of what
characterizes Chinese development, and pays attention to
questions of elite agency, capitalist dynamics, state
sovereignty, the politics of identity, and the
reconfiguration of the Chinese state.

2 Scherrer, Christoph
Public banks in the age of financialization : a
comparative perspective / Christoph Scherrer.--
Cheltenham: Edward Elgar Publishing, 2017.
xii, 265 p. ,24 cm.
(Advances in critical policy studies).
ISBN : 9781786430656.
332.1 SCH 146449
This book highlight both the benefits of public banks and
their governance failures, overcoming the sterile debate
of private versus public. Empirically analyzing three
countries with significant public banks - Brazil, Germany
and India - contributors support the Keynesian argument
that public banks can contribute to employment by
stabilizing the business cycle and by providing finance
on a long-term basis. Public Banks in the Age of
Financialization will give insight to advanced students
of finance, comparative politics and public management.
Policy experts and public bank managers will also benefit
from the in-depth case studies that provoke discussion on
both the positives and negatives of public banks.

An introduction to exotic option pricing / Peter Buchen.-

This book is a collection of a large amount of material
developed from my teaching, research, and supervision of
student projects and PhD theses. It also contains a
significant quantity of original unpublished work. One of
my main interests in Financial Mathematics was to seek
elegant methods for pricing derivative securities. One
aim of this book is to correct the impression that exotic
option pricing is a subject only for the technophiles. My
plan is to present it in a mathematically elegant and
easily understood fashion. To this end: I show in this
book how to price, in a Black-Scholes economy, the
standard exotic options, and a host of non-standard ones
as well, without generally performing a single
integration, or formally solving a partial differential
equation.

4 Kottemann, Jeffrey E
Illuminating statistical analysis using scenarios and
simulations / Jeffrey E Kottemann.-- Hoboken: Wiley, 2017
xi, 297p. , 25cm.
ISBN : 9781119296362.
519.5 KOT 146498
This book presents the basic concepts of statistics and
statistical inference using the dual mechanisms of
scenarios and simulations. This approach helps readers
develop key intuitions and deep understandings of
statistical analysis. Scenario-specific sampling
simulations depict the results that would be obtained by
a very large number of individuals investigating the same
scenario, each with their own evidence, while graphical
depictions of the simulation results present clear and
direct pathways to intuitive methods for statistical
inference. These intuitive methods can then be easily
linked to traditional formulaic methods, and the author
does not simply explain the linkages, but rather provides
demonstrations throughout for a broad range of
statistical phenomena.

This book introduces readers to point estimation,
confidence intervals, and statistical tests. It teaches
readers all about statistical analysis and covers the
design of experiments. The book also describes optimal
allocation in the chapters on regression analysis.
Additionally, it features a chapter devoted solely to
experimental designs.

7 Shemyakin, Arkady
Introduction to Bayesian estimation and copula models of
dependence / Arkady Shemyakin and Alexander Kniazev.--
Hoboken: John Wiley, 2017.
xxxi, 314p. , 24cm.
ISBN : 9781118959022.

This book emphasizes the applications of Bayesian
analysis to copula modeling and equips readers with the
tools needed to implement the procedures of Bayesian
estimation in copula models of dependence. This book is
structured in two parts: the first four chapters serve as
a general introduction to Bayesian statistics with a
clear emphasis on parametric estimation and the following
four chapters stress statistical models of dependence
with a focus of copulas.

10 Kitchin, Rob (ed)
Understanding spatial media / Rob Kitchin, Tracey P
Lauriault and Matthew W Wilson.-- Los Angeles: Sage
Publications, 2017.
x, 250p. , 25cm.
ISBN : 9781473949676.

Over the past decade, a new set of interactive, open,
participatory and networked spatial media have become
widespread. These include mapping platforms, virtual
globes, user-generated spatial databases, geodesign and
architectural and planning tools, urban dashboards and
citizen reporting geo-systems, augmented reality media,
and locative media. Collectively these produce and
mediate spatial big data and are re-shaping spatial
knowledge, spatial behavior, and spatial politics. This
book brings together leading scholars from around the
globe to examine these new spatial media, their attendant
technologies, spatial data, and their social, economic
and political effects.
