   1 Stirling, Wynn C.
Theory of social choice on networks : preference,
aggregation, and coordination / Wynn C Stirling.--
Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2016.
xxiii,202p., 23.5cm.
(Theory of social choice on networks).
ISBN : 9781107165168.

Classical social choice theory relies heavily on the
assumption that all individuals have fixed preference
orderings. This highly original book presents a new
theory of social preferences that explicitly accounts for
important social phenomena such as coordination,
compromise, negotiation and altruism. Drawing on
cybernetics and network theory, it extends classical
social choice theory by constructing a framework that
allows for dynamic preferences that are modulated by the
situation-dependent social influence that they exert on
each other. In this way the book shows how members of a
social network may modulate their preferences to account
for social context. This important expansion of social
choice theory will be of interest to readers in a wide
variety of disciplines, including economists and
political scientists concerned with choice theory as well
as computer scientists and engineer.

Accounting sustainably involves accounting for and to the
natural environment, and accounting for and to society,
including groups currently oppressed or disadvantaged by
unsustainable processes and practices. This book creates
a compelling case for the inclusion of sustainability at
the heart of accounting educational programs, offering
critical lessons and identifying risks to avoid when
designing accounting programs and courses. Accounting
sustainability has moved from the side-lines of policy
discourses, accounting institutions, professional
accounting practices, and research activities into the
mainstream. The chapters in this proposed book engage in
a critical dialogue to facilitate change in accounting
education for sustainability.

This book shows how thinking about management has evolved
and changed. It shows how changing social, political and
technological forces have challenged people to think
about management in new ways, and how management thinkers
have responded. Sometimes their responses missed the mark
and occasionally, great ideas about management failed to
be picked up and were lost along the way. It continues
through the Middle Ages, east and west, as people
pondered on how to manage risk and think strategically,
and on the role of business in society. It shows how the
Industrial Revolution led to the emergence of scientific
management, and how political and social events of the
twentieth century shaped management thinking right up to
the present day.

a task analogous to that of a medical doctor working
with a sick patient, secondly, how to assess and develop
the capability and fitness of an organization - like a
medical doctor who wishes to improve a patient-s health.
The message of this book is clear, that organizations
should not proceed to change any of their policies,
procedures, processes or practices until a systematic
thorough diagnosis of the root cause underpinning the
need to change has taken place.
